We can scarcely believe it ourselves but
Mercury Rev will be playing Esquires on Thursday the 14th August 2025 as part of our 35th anniversary celebrations!
One of the most influential and pioneering American bands of the past 30 years, since forming in 1989, Mercury Rev have released a succession of brilliantly innovative albums from the chaos of 1991 ‘Yerself is Steam’ to the shimmering psychedelia of 2024’s ‘Born Horses’. However, Mercury Rev are arguably best known for their 1998 masterpiece ‘Deserter Songs’. A record of beautifully orchestrated chamber pop which included the singles ‘Holes’, ‘Goddess on a Hiway’ and ‘Opus 40’, it was named album of the year in the NME and has subsequently gone on to be widely recognised as one of greatest releases of all time by the likes of Pitchfork and Uncut Magazine.
Still featuring founding members Jonathan Donahue and Sean ‘Grasshopper’ Mackowiak, they’ve collaborated with The Chemical Brothers and headlined the main stages at festivals such as Green Man and Primavera Sound. As such we are so excited that they’ve agreed to appear in Bedford for the very first time for a gig that we never dreamt would happen.
Tickets are on sale this Friday at 10am, limited to 4 per person online from Seetickets. We have put 50 physical tickets into
