The Roar Club and Club Biscuit are excited to confirm that Pete Fij and Terry Bickers will be appearing at Bedford Esquires on Thursday the 26th of October.
Pete Fij first came to prominence as the lead singer of cult Creation band (and Esquires regulars!) Adorable, whilst Terry Bickers surely needs no introduction as the guitarist in The House of Love. With a shared love of melancholy, they have teamed up to make sweet, miserable music ‘like The Velvet Underground, Johnny Cash & The Everly Brothers all jamming at four in the morning, trying not to wake the neighbours up.’
Now on their second album, ‘We are Millionaires’, the duo produce beautifully sad tunes which have earned them rave reviews.
‘Minor key, acoustic introspection done so beautifully it’s as if they’re singing to one another in the dustlight of a pub back room’ – MOJO
‘A gently melancholic album that’s really rather lovely’ – The Guardian
‘One of the most captivating albums of this year… darkly and poetically beautiful’ – Louder than War.
With BBC 6 Music sessions and sold out gigs in London and their hometown of Brighton, Fij and Bickers are an uplifting reminder that it really is never too late to get your band together.
Tickets are £8 in advance, available now from http://www.seetickets.com / http://www.wegottickets.com and shortly from Esquires bar.
This gig will take place in the suitably intimate surroundings of Holy Moly’s – we might even bring along some candles!
Support comes from Bedford’s own Grubby Mitts and their brilliantly inventive collection of found sounds, wistful melodies and wonky electronica.
