We are delighted to announce that Three Quarter Skies, the new project from Slowdive drummer Simon Scott, we will playing a very special live event at Esquires to mark the release of their new album.
The album, ‘Fade In’, was recorded by Simon and mixed with the help of Flying Saucer Attack main-man Dave Pearce. In includes the singles ‘Crows’ and ‘Leave A Light On’, a Nick Drake cover and brand new versions of ‘Holy Water’ and ‘Pieces Of Roslin’, which was originally released on last year’s introductory EP, Universal Flames.
Noisy, melodic and often quite beautiful, this will be an unmissable gig for fans of Spirtualized, Suicide and Simon’s ‘other’ band.
“Dave Pearce is present as a sort of spiritual guide, encouraging Scott to turn up the turbulence and accentuate the moments of zoned-out drift. Fade In finds a certain beauty in desolation” – Uncut Magazine
“At once beautiful and uncomfortable… ‘Fade In’ is a demonstration of Scott’s ability to create an atmosphere, but it’s also a more personal endeavour, an encapsulation of all of his discomforts, the hope and longing for something softer” – Far Out Magazine
“Fire-breathing angst and despair” – Norman Records
“Oppressive ambiences and serrated edges add a suitably bracing rawness to songs inspired by the loss of Scott’s mother… redolent of Spacemen 3’s small hours prayers for redemption” – The Wire: Adventures In Modern Music
Cambridge shoegazers Lemondaze will be providing main support on the evening. Last seen at Esquires supporting RIDE, Lemondaze are one of the most exciting new dream pop bands around and we are delighted to welcome them back.
If that is not enough, Mercury Prize nominated musician James Chapman (aka MAPS) will be DJing, so expect a set of heartwarming woozy electronica and fractured ambience.
Tickets on sale now, priced £12. In association with Arts Council England, a limited number of tickets will be available for just £5 for those on a low income or struggling with increases in the cost of living.
